About Me

I started this site after organizing a few groups to Skirmish. I wanted everyone to have an idea of what to expect so they could prepare themselves, thereby having more fun.

I think by my 4th trip I was sick of typing huge emails telling everyone what to expect. So SabrePaintball was born. There is a lot of information and people always ask different questions so I decided to compile everything I encountered into one place. That way, whenever I organized a trip, I could just refer people to the site instead of sending out a huge email. Plus, I was really bored at work and had plenty of time to kill.

Anyways, I've tried to cover everything here. If I missed anything let me know. (Click on the "Contact Me" link genius)

Hope you have a good time!

How I got hooked!

My first time playing paintball was in Buffalo, where I went to school. It was a pretty crappy place. Basically an empty warehouse with broken windows, concrete floors, and pallets as bunkers. Plus, the floors were slippery as hell from the paint. The rental equipment was dirty and even though the barrel kept coming off my marker on its own, it was never replaced. Despite this, I had a great time. Nothing beats the adrenaline rush of taking someone out and advancing as a team to capture the objective.

The second time I played was in 2003. My co-worker at the time told me that there was a place in Pennsylvania that had a half-price weekend in December. So I thought, "OK, let me see if I can round up some people." There were 14 brave souls that time. We endured the bitter cold and played all day. But it was a lot of fun and I knew I was hooked.

It was only a matter of time before I got other people hooked. (Insert evil laugh.) My goal is to introduce the sport to those who are not familiar with it and to educate them on how safe it is despite the negative image as portrayed by the media. And to get those pansy friends to come out and try it. You know, the ones you ask to come out and the first words out of their mouth is, "It hurts!" or "I'm afraid of pain!"

Funniest (Stupidest) Things I've Heard/Seen

A group of people in one car showing up an hour later than everyone else and telling me, "I didn't think it was this far".

Some genius accidentally firing their marker in the safe zone and saying, "I didn't know it would do that".

Organizing a trip in mid December and someone calling me up the day of and telling me they didn't want to go anymore because "It was too cold".

A person from the opposite team running into a small structure occupied by our team yelling "Surrender or die!" and expecting not to get shot.

A cheater continuing to play after getting shot in the goggles, then when confronted by the ref, says, "I didn't know I was hit".

Some poor guy stepping into a patch of mud, pulling his foot out sans shoe, losing balance, and stepping back into the mud with just his sock.
